Blueprint helps you create a shared model of how your business works. It connects assumptions, operational drivers, metrics, and outcomes so your team can understand what creates value and how each part of the business affects the others. The built-in AI helper guides you through this process. Describe your business in plain language, share relevant files, or ask the AI to research an industry. It can create the Blueprint, organize it into modules, define metrics, build formulas, and refine the model with you.

Start with the AI helper

Open Chat from the Blueprint page and explain what you want to model. For example:
Build a Blueprint for our subscription software business. Include customer acquisition, recurring revenue, churn, operating costs, and profitability.
The AI helper will:
  1. Ask questions to understand the business.
  2. Create the initial Blueprint and its modules.
  3. Add assumptions, metrics, and formulas incrementally.
  4. Research external business or industry context when requested.
  5. Save each confirmed change directly to the Blueprint.
You can continue the conversation to correct assumptions, add missing areas, or make the model more detailed.

Review the model

As the AI builds, the Blueprint canvas updates with the saved changes. Use the canvas to:
  • Review definitions and calculated values.
  • See how metrics depend on one another.
  • Find incomplete definitions.
  • Inspect the inputs and downstream uses of any metric.
  • Organize definitions by module, status, or tag.
You can edit any part of the model directly when you want precise control.

Test assumptions

Adjust assumptions from the Blueprint to preview their effects across the model. Cord recalculates connected metrics and highlights downstream changes. Apply the changes to update the model, or reset them to return to the saved values.

Why Blueprint comes first

Cord needs a clear understanding of the business before it can help analyze it effectively. Blueprint captures that understanding as a structured, inspectable model. Starting here gives your team:
  • Shared definitions for important metrics.
  • Explicit assumptions and calculation logic.
  • A visual map of business drivers and outcomes.
  • A versioned record of how the model changes.
  • Consistent context for future work in Cord.
